With tons of unlockables, tracks, race types and special objectives, you can be racing for many an hour.īurnout 3 provides excitement through and through. That just provides more of a challenge and is what draws me to Burnout over and over. You can still get ahead of the pack by hitting the apex of a corner just right, but with aggressive drivers and unforgiving traffic, that's a hard thing to do. You can alter the playlist to your liking as well.īurnout leans heavily in favor of arcade racing fans, but there is most definately a degree of skill required that some sim fans might enjoy. Combined with the stellar visuals are some very intense sounds and high-energy music. It's the kind of rush that makes your knuckles white. When you get up to high speeds, things around you start to blur, the cars around you have motion trails and a sense of tunnel vision grips you. The graphics are amazing, giving rich detail and life to the cars, the road and the environments. The random/luck factor is almost completly gone and makes the varied, replayable crashes of Burnout 2 a thing of the past. The addition of bonus coins, crashbreakers (secondary explosions after impact) and multiplier icons means that you have to take a set path to achieve the highest scores. While still fun, the crash mode in Burnout 3 isn't as deep as its predecessor. Step on the gas, rocket towards trouble and crash into traffic, causing as much devastation as possible. There is also the crash mode gameplay which is a staple of the Burnout series. This kind of mayhem makes the game pure fun. Your opponents aren't perfect either and they will wipe out themselves, with or without your involvement. In most modes, you simply restart on the track a few seconds after your crash. Push the envelope too far and you're going to wreck.Ĭrashes themselves are a beauty to watch and these sort of accidents don't become frustrating to the point of detracting from gameplay. You are rewarded for risky and aggressive driving, provided you have the skill to pull them off safely. No other racing game captures the feel of racing on the edge like Burnout. You feel it, you hear it and sometimes you can almost smell the rubber burning. What Burnout does exceedingly well is speed. This game is definately in contention for the best racing game ever. The pure bliss of adrenaline, speed and mayhem.īurnout 3 improves on nearly everything making it the best in the series so far. The new damage control system promises "Hollywood-style" crashes with doors flying off, hoods popping open, or even an entire front end shorn from the rest of the vehicle. With the game's redesigned Crash Mode, up to six players can take to the streets in a bare knuckle - nay, bald tires - race to the finish line, collecting points by eliminating the competition using any means necessary. With the understanding that people like to misbehave online, in Burnout 3 players won't race through traffic rather, they'll fight through traffic using any means necessary including pushing, shoving, ramming, or shunting. In creating Burnout 3, developers decided to model play around the tendencies of online gamers. Burnout 3 looks to surpass its predecessors by utilizing a new graphics engine, and by its ability to provide motoring mayhem to the masses online. Buckle up and get ready to hit the streets where insane, hit-and-run, high-speed driving is what it takes to cross the finish line ahead of the pack.
